What are you learning from your Pain?
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Pain instructs.

I believe God allowed pain to instruct us. It wasn’t his first choice. He is not sadistic to choose pain as an instructor. His first choice was obedience. God’s best plan has always been that we learn by listening to Him and obeying His instructions.

The fallen state of man however, makes it highly possible that we wouldn’t know how to discern the voice of God.

And even when we do, our sin condition often persuades us that there is life outside of LIFE HIMSELF, wisdom outside of the instructions of WISDOM HIMSELF. So we reject God’s instructions.

But God has set things up in such a way that even the negative consequence of being outside of God’s will, is pregnant with opportunities to return to Him. This is the mercy of God in action.

Pain and Hurt is a testament of the mercy of God. Pain is God saying, you didn’t hear me last time, will you hear me now that it hurts?

The trouble is that we have an enemy, His job is to pervert something that God allows for our good, he turns it around for evil.

So when we get hurt in relationships, the hurt was teaching you who you are, what you like, what is important to you.

But the enemy perverts that, and teaches us to hate others for hurting us. Teaches us to live a distrustful life because we’ve been hurt. Teaches us not to try again because failing hurt the last time.

I think this is why it is important to learn to yield our pain to God. When we do, He uses our pain to teach us His lessons.

When we don’t yield our pain to God, we open ourselves up to pick up the perverted lessons that the enemy wants us to learn in pain and hurt.

We don’t need to ask you if you are learning from your pain, because we all are. We do need to ask, what are you learning from your pain?

The right lessons will make you better, not bitter, wiser not foolish. The right lessons will provoke growth not stunt your growth. The right lessons will make you bolder, not more timid.

Don’t waste your pain. Tell God about what hurts. Find good friends who will partner with God to bring out the best lessons from your pain.

This is the gospel, that in darkest and most painful parts of the journey of life, resurrection is possible because God turns our pain and our hurt in to resurrection power!

FaceTime with Him
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Every thing good which we’ll ever need as an human being, physical, emotional, social, financial, and mentally is found in God.

The reason we experience lack is a disconnection from God, the source of provision. We experience death because of a disconnection from God who is life.

This disconnection happened in Adam. The moment he sinned in the garden of Eden, he was disconnected from the source of everything and hand to figure life out himself.

In Jesus, we are reconnected with God. But more than that, God has put, in His glory in the face of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Glory is manifested goodness that can be attributed to God only. We had access to this glory because of our permanent connection with God, which Adam enjoyed. We lost it when Adam sinned.

Our reconnection with God through Jesus gives us a fresh opportunity to experience the glory of God. This time this glory is in the face of Jesus.

Every form of goodness we need in our life is available in the face of Jesus. It’s available when we go looking in His face. As we look in His face through prayer, through consistently looking it His Word for our life solutions we will be transformed from glory to glory.

It’s time for some Facetime. Seek His face. Affirm His presence with you. Stay in His face. The glory, goodness you need is in His face.

When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Ps 27:8

My prayer for the “Prodigal”
UncategorizedLeave a comment

One of the saddest things I’ve seen so often is people who love God so much that they stay away from Him because of their sin. I am moved by people who love God with all their heart but feel that the best thing they can do for God, out of respect for Him is to “stay out of His way”, because of they miss it very often. I have been that person.

Today I’m praying for you who believes in Jesus in your heart, but you’ve missed it so many times that you feel the need to stay away from any place where He is talked about. You love Him so much that you feel you are contaminating the place where He is exalted. So you stay away. To be honest, a lot of the time church folk don’t help!!

I pray that you realise that He gave everything when you had nothing to offer Him. I pray that you realise that He doesn’t love you because you are always good, but because HE is ALWAYS good.

I pray that just as you are convinced that He sees your mistakes, you will also be convinced that He is ALWAYS your answer & your helper in ALL things! I pray that you will see & hear him more than you see & hear the voice of condemnation.

Today I pray that you find the courage to SPRINT towards HIM…EVERYTIME!

LUKE 15:22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate.24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.

Don’t pray for Boston alone. Pray for all nations.
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Today I join my prayers with millions of people around the World who are praying for those affected in the Boston tragedy. At times like this prayer is probably the most apt thing to do because we come face to face with 2 sides of our humanity:

1) the depravity of the Human nature as demonstrated by those who did the bombing. As much as we would like to think that these people are not human, the truth is THEY ARE! Sadly, they their actions demonstrate how depraved we as human beings can be.
2) the helpless state of humanity. Those affected in these bombings were just having a normal day like you and I. But somehow they have been caught up in that, naturally speaking, they couldn’t have helped.

Praying is the apt thing to do because we are referring to a God who sees and understands all things and all people. Praying is the apt thing to do because God, through His son Jesus Christ provides us with the only real solace for the distress we experience when we confront these 2 sides of our humanity.

As you pray for Boston, remember Nigeria in your prayers where over 20 people were killed in a bomb blast just a month ago! Remember Afghanistan where these bomb blasts appear to be a regular occurrence that we could/have become desensitised to. As you pray for Boston pray for all nations of the earth because everyday, people just like you and I are forced to confront the depravity & helplessness of our humanity.

Whatever you face today, however distressing it might be, I pray that you are introduced to the person of Jesus who through what He did when He walked the earth gives us access to God, the real source of true solace. God is not demanding a list of things from you, He is only asking that you believe that Jesus is who He said He is, the ONLY saviour and hope of humanity. Everything eventually adds up when you have a real relationship (not a religion) with the real God, through His real son Jesus.
