NO SUBSTITUTE FOR FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF GOD!
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Hebrews 8:11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.

God in His wisdom has set up a covenant with mankind. A covenant is a binding agreement that outlines the basis of the relationship between 2 parties. In Hebrews 8, God tells us about the covenant that is currently in effect between God and man. A key part of this relationship is that we will all have the privilege of a personal relationship with God. Which means we get to have a first hand experience of Him!

I believe we are living in times when the only thing that will set you apart from the rest is YOUR personal knowledge of Him! There so many perplexing things happening in the World, and even in the body of Christ. I believe the only thing that can keep you in peace in the times we live in is a FIRST HAND experience of God.

I’ve been friends with my wife now for about 10 years and we’ve been married for 5 of those years. I have spent A LOT of time with her in these years! We haven’t been apart for long at all. So it’s safe for me to say I know her! My relationship with her is not based on how anyone else sees her, but it’s based on my personal, FIRST HAND knowledge of her.

Most Christians have a second hand experience of God. This means that what we know of God is what someone else said about Him.

Thank God for people he uses to teach us about God. I believe that preaching and teaching about God is indispensable to the health of our relationship with God. Just like learning about women and marriage is indispensable to the health of my relationship with my wife. But those who teach me about relationships are still not my wife! I will run into BIG trouble if I treat them in that way!

Those who teach you about God and His ability are NOT GOD! They will never be God! A relationship with them will never be a substitute for a relationship with God! We honour those who teach us about God, but we WORSHIP GOD! Real worship comes out of a first hand experience of God.

Every one has an opinion about God! With the internet, every one can voice their opinion, and with social media you can even get opinions about God that you didn’t ask for! Delivered direct to you door! Without a personal knowledge of God, you will be open to the torment that comes when you inevitable come across someone who says “you’re doing it ALL wrong!”

Learn all you can from those who teach about God. But prioritise a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with Him. He is available to us. I define worship as any intimate interaction you have with God. You can’t be tormented by different winds of doctrine if you worship I.e interact with God personally. Seize every opportunity you have to relate with God. It’s an awesome privilege made available to EVERYONE by & through Jesus.

How about right now, just talk to God. Say hello. He’s waiting. Fear of every kind dissipates when you have a FIRST HAND experience of God. We live in times when there is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A PERSONAL, FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF GOD!

Set yourself free!

Bitterness, rage, resentment anger, animosity can easily creep into our lives mostly when we have been offended by someone. Sometimes the offender is aware that they have offended us. At other times they are completely oblivious to the offence. Unfortunately, irrespective of the offenders knowledge and acceptance of their offence, the effects of being offended are still toxic!

Proverbs 15:13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit…

Let it go friends! As you let it go, you set yourself free. Most of the time we want them to know that they have offended us! We want them to feel sorry for what they have done before we forgive them! Unfortunately this mindset keeps you enslaved to their response. Most people are slaves to the poor characters of others. You’re better than that! You were not born to be enslaved to the flaws in someone else’s character.

Check how God forgave us…He completely forgave us before any message was preached to us about our sins against him. He did not wait for us to know about our sins or acknowledge them before he died for us. Learn to forgive before or even without the offender knowing they have offended you. You don’t need to give that driver a nasty stare to let him know his/her driving offended you! Yes sometimes we need to make people aware of their offence just so that we put boundaries in place for the future. But forgiving without feeling the need to announce the offence to the offender is a more powerful way to live.

Live free! You were born to be free!

Some things are more important than being understood

The high priests, along with the religion scholars and leaders, were right there mixing it up with the rest of them, having a great time poking fun at him: “He saved others—he can’t save himself! King of Israel, is he? Then let him get down from that cross. We’ll all become believers then! He was so sure of God—well, let him rescue his ‘Son’ now—if he wants him! He did claim to be God’s Son, didn’t he?” Even the two criminals crucified next to him joined in the mockery. (Matthew 27:41-44 MSG)

On the Friday, Saturday & even the Sunday of the first “Easter”, whilst Jesus hung on the cross & whilst He was in the grave, doing the very thing He was born to do, He was probably misunderstood the most! Those He was born to lead into new realms of limitless possibilities, completely misunderstood Him! Check out some of the things they said in the passage above.

When Jesus was in the grave, even those who walked with him for the last 3 years went into hiding. I’d like to say that if I was there, I wouldn’t have gone into hiding…but as I imagine what must have been going through the minds of the disciples, I’m not too sure what I would have done ((honest people say hoooHa). They would have been asking, how could He die, He was the messiah, He preached great messages of faith & hope, we even used His power to cast out demons, He even raised the dead…How could he allow mere men to treat Him like a common criminal? Are there no armies that could defend Him in this kingdom He always talked about? At this point in time, the events would have been really difficult to understand…

Ground breaking pioneers are often misunderstood in their generation. Leaders who are truly creating new realities are often misunderstood by those they lead. I believe that Jesus was misunderstood the most at the height of fulfilling His destiny. I am so relieved that He didn’t take instruction from those who didn’t understand what He was about.

Great leaders are those who have embraced being misunderstood. Great leaders are those who refuse to be instructed by the reaction, comments and actions of those who misunderstand them. Great leaders are those who have developed confidence that their vision, calling or destiny will vindicate them.

Stay focused, don’t be mad at those who misunderstand you, don’t make it your mission to make everyone understand you. Every God given vision or destiny will vindicate you when it is fully manifested. Focus your energy on fulfilling your purpose…on the 3rd day of your “Easter” weekend, when the fullness of your purpose has been manifested, your vision will speak, loudly & clearly! Jesus’ life was explained fully in His death & resurrection.

The purpose of God in you is more important and more valuable than being understood.

What you see now is not all that there is!

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. (Acts 12:7 NLT)

This year don’t despair because the judgement has been passed…don’t reach a conclusion about your future on the basis of the chains around your wrists! Don’t be scared because you can see that sickness eating away at you…don’t despair because you can see your children appearing to go deeper and deeper into drugs…at the right time God will equip you with a fresh Word! When you are equipped with a Word, nothing will stop you! Chains will fall off you on account of God’s Word! Doors open on account of God’s Word!

Hear & Keep on hearing

Romans 1:16…For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a] for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek…

The gospel or the good news about Christ contains the power that God uses to save anyone who believes! If you need the power of God to save you, you can find that power invested in the good news about Jesus. Locate the good news, locate the power of God!

Time and time again the bible gives us instances of how the lives of various people have been turned around because they heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Most of the people who received miraculous breakthroughs heard something about this Man Jesus that caused them to reach out for what Jesus had without much thought for what the rules and regulations of the day was.

The Woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 heard about Jesus (V27) after going through 12 years of bleeding and losing money to doctors. What she heard about Jesus caused her to have such a strong confidence (faith) in Him that she didn’t care about what the law had to say about her condition or even how weak she would have been physically! Verse 28 tells us that…she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health…She had heard something!

Blind Bartimeaus in Mark 10 was another example, verse 47 tells us that “when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth who was passing by” he shouted out to Jesus without much concern for those who were severely censuring him! He had heard something!

Dear friend you don’t even need to be a christian by religion to experience the power of God that is deposited in the good news about Jesus. Jesus is a gift to the whole world! The power of God is available to anyone who believes the good news that Jesus is our healer, our peace, our provider our wisdom our righteousness…and much more! Be on the look out for the good news about Jesus. As you immerse yourself in the good news about Jesus by hearing and continuing to hear this good news, the power of God will be unleashed to help you out!

In the brightest or darkest times of life, never lose sight of the GOOD NEWS ABOUT JESUS. It Contains the power of God unto salvation.

Today I pray you hear something about Jesus that causes you to reach out to Him regardless!

Grace be with you.

Chido
