A miracle in the mundane
UncategorizedLeave a comment

We don’t always get spectacular, miraculous moments. But we ALWAYS get the mundane! Sleep, eat, rave repeat…in a loop.

Most of us are are not often thankful for the mundane routines of life because it’s mundane!

Truth is you don’t always need a miracle and a spectacle to change your future because most times everything you need to change your future is in the mundane routines of life. The miracle is in the mundane.

If you can appreciate the value of the mundane you can make your future appreciate in value.

If you can stop to find what works now and be grateful for that, If you can count your blessings and name them one by one as the songwriter says, you will find the power to rule over your future.

The present is a gift. The mundane routines are a gift. It contains the miraculous! Thank God for the mundane. There is a miracle in the mundane.

Clean hands. Pure hearts.
UncategorizedLeave a comment

We no longer live in a dispensation where what we do determines how acceptable we are to God. We live in a dispensation where we are perfectly acceptable to God because of what Jesus did!

And our faith in Jesus is the bucket with which we can scoop up and use up heaps of the benefits that comes with being perfectly acceptable to God!

However, there is still something about a man or woman who is dedicated to having clean hands and a pure heart. There are heights God and in life that are reserved for those dedicated to keeping their hands clean and hearts pure.

Keeping your hands clean involves making a decision to make sure all you do empowers others and doesn’t hinder them.

Keeping your hands clean involves doing things in such a way that if anyone was to audit your actions and intentions retrospectively, they will find you guiltless.

Keeping your heart pure involves keeping your motives pure. It involves finding the best motive for anything you do, and yielding your heart to that motive.

Keeping your heart pure involves choosing to believe the very best about others even when there is reason to believe the very worst.

Keeping your heart pure is choosing God’s Word in your heart, above the jealousy, fear, resentment, envy, frustrations about yourself and others, which creep into our heart daily.

I believe we live in a time that requires us to move huge mountains and weather unprecedented storms. These are times that demands authentic faith in God. Authentic faith is characterised by clean hands and pure hearts. Authentic faith is in the state of your heart and not the size of your bible.

We are called to scale great heights in our industries, communities & families. Whilst we don’t seek to keep our hands clean and our hearts pure to be acceptable to God. We do need to desire that, for the sake of the advancement of God’s kingdom.

The grace of God does not exempt us from needing clean hands and pure hearts to scale great heights. The grace of God empowers us to live a successful life with clean hands and pure hearts.

Keep your hands clean. Keep your heart pure. Let God help you with it. Ask Him to. Make that your prayer in spite of your current situation.

Getting past that overwhelming feeling
UncategorizedLeave a comment

If you live long enough you will face overwhelming situations in life. To be overwhelmed is to be so strongly impacted by something that you don’t know what to do about it.

It’s that place where the debt appears so huge compared to your income. It’s that place where the lies being spread about you seem to be overshadowing the truth. It’s that place where you feel the strength you have is too small to handle the life you have.

The good news is that God has made provision to ensure that we are NEVER TRAPPED BY THE THINGS THAT OVERWHELM US. He has made provision to lead us to a higher place. A rock that is higher!

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalms 61:2 NKJV

For every overwhelming situation you face, please know this, God has already prepared a higher rock…a place of safety!

In the midst of the overwhelming situations you face the temptation is to ignore the simple instructions God gives. That’s a mistake! Don’t fall for it!

Every instruction to forgive, or to try again, or to believe that your best is still to come, every instruction God sends you in the season you are overwhelmed is an attempt by God to lead you to that rock that is Higher than you.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalms 32:8 NKJV

God does not promise to cause you to skip any season of your life, however overwhelming it is. But He promises to instruct, teach and guide you through every season! That’s why even if you make your bed in hell as the psalmist says in Psalm 139:8, He there! He is there to guide you through hell and into His will for you.

I pray that you find the courage and the boldness to listen to God’s instruction to you especially in the seasons where you are overwhelmed.

I pray that this will be the day that you rise above those things that have seemed to drown and overwhelm you.

I pray that this will be the season where you yield to the God who is waiting to lead you to a rock, higher that you.

Thank you for reading this.I am praying for you.

Sometimes, stop & weep
RelationshipsLeave a comment

It’s 4.20am. I woke up to settle my daughter back in bed. But I couldn’t go back to sleep because something was on my mind.

As I picked up my phone, to check the time, my emails, insta (as you do), perhaps out of habit, or in an attempt to distract my self from what was weighing on my mind, I came across this article from the BBC

Sometimes we get desensitised to horrors like this so we scroll on. I was about to move on but I believe the Holy Spirit, got me to go back and look at the picture again. To read the caption again. I think He needed my mind on this. Not on the matter on my mind this early morning.

Here’s another article from Aljazeera:

Can you comprehend losing 14 relatives in one go? Can you comprehend digging their grave? Can you comprehend the pain from the wrenching hearts of the survivors?

As impossible as it is to, I think it’s important we take the time to try and comprehend. Romans 12:15 asks us to mourn with those who mourn. You can only truly do this if we try to comprehend why those who mourn are mourning.

We deal with all kinds of things that keep us awake early in the morning. Some are important, truthfully, some are absolute trash. But in all these things. I pray we learn to stop, and weep with those who weep. And rejoice with those who rejoice.

Maybe we’d be much kinder to one another. Maybe we’d be more patient. Maybe we’d smile more. Maybe we’d worry less. Perhaps we’ll see the need to pray without ceasing. Maybe we wouldn’t fuss over nonsense!

Sometimes we fear that stoping to comprehend the pain of another might drive us to despair. It’s possible. But I think with the Spirit of God in us, He gives us a well balanced mind. A mind that is strong enough to be perplexed but not driven to despair.

I think compassion begins when we learn to stop and hear the silence of a friend. When we stop to comprehend the pain of our neighbors. Compassion begins in comprehending the reason why another rejoices.

Today, please stop. Think about another person. Pray about another person. Rejoice with someone. Weep with someone.

Start with Sierra Leone.

Choosing your hiding place
UncategorizedLeave a comment

I often play hide and seek with my nearly 4 year old daughter. When she was a little bit younger, before we start the game, she’d tell me where to hide and sometimes she tell me where she’ll hide! 😂😂😂 (She’s bossy like that)

Recently I came across this verse in the bible that got me thinking that whilst announcing where you were going to hide might not be the best idea on the playground, in real life we often need to choose and announce our hiding place before the storm.

This a Psalm of David. David knew about hiding. He had to hide in caves from Saul who was trying to kill him. One time he had to disguise himself as someone who was mentally unwell in order to hide amongst the philistines, long time enemies of Israel at the time.

But in all of these clever places he found to hide, he discovered that his real hiding place was in God! And he announced it upfront in the above verse.

If you choose you hiding place upfront, we settle it before you’re under pressure. If you make a good decision to ALWAYS hide in God, every challenge you face has to contend with Him.

If you choose your hiding place upfront, the emotions that get stirred up in us when we’re under pressure stands less chance of driving us to hide in the wrong place.

Have you caught yourself hiding away in an alcoholic beverage? In food? Drugs? Other people? Sex? The gym? Music?

There’s a place for all (or should I say some) of the above in life. But none of them was designed to be our hiding place. None of the above is equipped to hide you like God can.

In fact the place or person you consistently run to for shelter when you are under pressure eventually begins to exercise Godlike power over you.

If you’ve been hiding in anywhere but in God, return to the stronghold in God today. Practically we do that by choosing to believe that God WILL preserve you in trouble and eventually deliver you from trouble!

We hide in God when choose to believe that He is willing and capable of keeping you safe in EVERY WAY!!

Pray like David prayed: YOU ARE MY HIDING PLACE LORD!

When the promise doesn’t make sense
UncategorizedLeave a comment

If you’re like me, trying to live a life of faith in God through Jesus, there will be seasons of great contradictions. Living a life of faith is simply living a life that is directed and influenced by the Words of a living God, captured in scripture. Living a life of faith is choosing to live with expectations set by believing in the promises of God.

The contradictions set in when you bump into situations that are directly at odds with the promises of God.

When you expected help that never seems to be there. When you expected that they would fall on their knees asking what must I do to be saved after you shared the gospel with them as the Spirit of God led you to do. But all you got was a weird look. When you expected provision that is still pending.

I have learnt that these are the times when the quality of your faith is tested. I have learnt to fall back on the covenant. Psalm 89:34 says that God will not alter His Word or break His covenant.

The Words of a God, His promises and instructions are backed up by the covenant. Even though God’s Word is good, on the basis of His integrity as a person, the covenant makes the promise legally binding.

It’s one thing for a nice, trustworthy friend to give you a promise. It’s another thing for them to go through the effort to go to court, write up papers and sign an affidavit to make that promise legally binding.

That’s what God has done. He gave His promise. Even though it is good enough, He legalises His promise by sending His son to die on the cross. Hebrews 6:18 tells us that this is God’s attempt to let you know how serious He is about His promise.

I have learnt that the promise is given to set your expectation. And the covenant is given to help us keep our expectation set when the promise doesn’t seem to make sense. I have learnt to fall back on the covenant, particularly in seasons of great contradictions.

Practically this means I am not afraid to be without an explanation for the contradictions, because I believe that the covenant ties God to me permanently, and if I keep walking conscious of His presence with me, in time, the pieces of the puzzle will fit.

Hebrews 6:11-12 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Don’t quit or abandon the promise of God simply because it doesn’t add up right now and you’re looking like a mug right now. God has legally bound Himself to fulfill no His promise. Keep the faith. Be patient. You will inherit the promise.

Leadership In the Kingdom of God
LeadershipLeave a comment

God has called every one of his children to lead and to make a difference, but that difference is only made when we choose to apply ourselves to His purpose. Leadership is responsibility. We become children of God by the grace of God. However, we walk as sons by virtue of the responsibility we assume within the confines of His grace.

Whilst the whole world is yours by the grace of God, it is only those who develop the ability to be responsible for that which has been released to us by the grace of God that actually get to walk in their inheritance…

Let me explain this like this…I have an excellent father…and when I was growing up, he had a car. Now from the moment I was born, by virtue of the favour that my father had on me because I was His son, I had the privilege of being taken to school in that car…I had the privilege of being picked up from school in that car. But I didn’t have the privilege of driving that car on behalf of my father until a certain age!

Why? Because for whatever reason…I had not yet stepped up to the plate of responsibility.

So even though the car was available to me, I needed to be responsible enough to go to driving school…I needed to be responsible enough to pay attention enough to pass my driving test…it is now on the basis of my demonstration of this responsibility that my father now released me into using the car to drop of my younger ones at school and picking them from school…on His behalf!

This is what leaders are in the kingdom of God. Leaders are those who have stepped up to take responsibility to develop the different attributes that allow God to release them into the inheritance that belongs to them by the grace of God!

The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 that we are stewards of mysteries of God, and it is required that those who are steward to be found faithful…In other words we are called by the grace of God, but within the confines of His grace there is a requirement for me to be faithful as a steward of the promise by grace!

Leadership is about being responsible stewards of the things that God has given us by His grace. Everything God has promised you…everything you are believing for is by the grace of God. There is a requirement for us to develop attributes that make us responsible sons who administrate all that God has given us by His Grace.

I believe but nothing is happening!
UncategorizedLeave a comment

One of the common frustrations that those who believe in the promises found in the scriptures is the distance that sometimes exist between believing the promise of God & experiencing the manifestation of the promise.

The integrity of a decision to start off a journey in faith is often questioned as time goes on. Particularly when expectations have not been met in the expected time frame.

But faith alone is not enough to experience the promise. Check out this scripture below: IMG_6789-0
When we have faith without patience, we are more likely to to abort the process…whilst the miracle is cooking!

It’s great that you believe God can heal, provide or intervene in your nation. But now it’s time for patience. After doing all you know to do, it’s time to stand.

Patience is standing firm on what you believe even with contradicting evidence.

Patience is the process by which the quality of your faith is tested.

The Contradicting circumstances you experience after declaring what you believe does not come to prove to you that God lied. The enemy knows that God does not lie. The contradictions to what we believe come to ask us: “what do you really believe?”

They come to ask, “do you really believe God heals, cares, provides, intervenes on your behalf?”

The path from Faith in God to experiencing the promise, is littered with questions like “can I survive this” “can you handle that challenge”” will I ever come out of this mess” “will I ever love again”” will I ever be free from this debt/addiction/depression/illness””will this bill ever be paid”

But real question they are all asking of those who begin a journey of faith is …”WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE”.

Faith is not just positive thinking. Faith is a quality decision we make concerning God, after having received a revelation of Him. Without faith it is impossible to please God or obtain what He has graciously reserved for us in Christ.

Patience is not just waiting around hoping that your positive thought will call up your lottery number today. Patience is the ability to consistently reaffirm your faith in God, even in the face of contradictions.

I’m praying for you who believes but haven’t seen the manifestation. I’m praying that you will have the courage to add patience to your faith. I pray that today you will receive strength to stand. I pray that this will be the season when you breakthrough.

God is good. He is sovereign. He is all knowing. God did not lie to you.

Faith + Patience = His promise.

It’s an inside job!

Ephesians 3:13 Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

Here in Ephesians 3 we join a conversation that Paul was having with the Ephesians. They were all facing a very difficult time. Paul was really loved by the church. He pastored them, taught them, fathered them and they loved him deeply. But things were not going as they expected it to go. He was being persecuted heavily.

A big challenge we all face in the JOURNEY OF life is the challenge of the unexpected. We can deal with the good things and even the bad things that we expect. But most people struggle with the unexpected. No one expected their Pastor, Father to be hated, totured and imprisoned like Paul was. That was an unexpected development that caused the ephesians to be disheartened, despondent, discouraged. And in view of this Paul says DONT LOSE HEART!

Now check out why he admonished them to not lose heart:

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,[c] 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love

He says don’t lose heart because I have prayed for you! Did he pray for the persecutions he was facing to stop? No. Even though this was the reason the Ephesians were disheartened! Instead he prayed that they will be strengthened with might through the Holy Spirit in the Inner man!

Most of the time when we lose heart, it is usually because there is something that is discouraging on the outside and when you get discouraged or disheartened, you lose the strength to go forward.

The temptation for us is to begin to look for something that is encouraging on the outside too. As the thing that sapped your strength is on the outside, we tend to look for things on the outside to change in order for us to be strengthened again. However God has set things up in such a way that the strength you need to deal with what you face comes THROUGH HIS SPIRIT…IN YOUR INNER MAN!

Whilst you were waiting to get a spouse on the outside to overcome the sense of loneliness in your heart, God was waiting for you to look at the inner man! Your strength will not come from the outside, it will come from the inside! LOOK INSIDE! LOOK AT THE HOLY SPIRIT

Listen, it really doesn’t matter what is going on on the outside. Paul, in Philippians 4:13(AMP) said “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who [a]infuses inner strength into me; I am [b]self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency]”

It’s an inside job!

This simple truth has set me free from having a victim mindset and birthed a deep desire to know this person who literally holds ALL of my life in Him…The Holy Spirit. Investigate this person. Know Him. Lean on Him. ALL of your life is in HIM.

The Key to healthy relationships
RelationshipsLeave a comment

There are so many battles we face in our relationships that can literally be shut down and won by one or two unkind words!

Yet if we are really after authentic relationships and authentic fulfilment, we will need to resist the temptation to say/type/write unkind words.

Speaking an unkind word in some circumstances can be so gratifying and fufilling…(you know I’m right)…but the truth is that it will never produce true fulfilment. Instead unkind words said to those closest to us will ALWAYS leave a bruise on those we love the most.

Now an authentic apology can heal these bruises, but won’t it be better that those around us never need to experience the pain of being bruised by our words in the first place? Would you not prefer to not be bruised only to be healed later with an apology, if it was avoidable?

When we speak graciously or kindly, even when we are are on the receiving side of unkindness, we break the cycle of “bruise for bruise”. With our kind and gracious words, we introduce a seed for healing and health. Keep feeding those seeds, and eventually it will grow so big that our relationships will be characterised by kindness and graciousness as opposed to pain and hurt.

Kind and gracious words can remove the venom in the veins of your relationships today. Speak something kind in the face of unkindness. Break the cycle of pain. Introduce seeds of health to your relationship right now.

WITHOUT AUTHENTIC KINDNESS, THE CHARACTER OF OUR RELATIONSHIPS WILL REMAIN UNSAVOURY.
