PUT ON YOUR FIGHTING FACE!

(MY FIGHTING FACE!)

People who train you in health and safety often advice that before you lift a load, you need to first evaluate the load to see if you can lift it by yourself or if you need help. In life we always face various situations in which we are consciously or unconsciously evaluating what we face and trying to make a decision on whether we are able to tackle the situation by our strength or if we will need help.

Fear sets in when upon evaluation of the load that HAS to move, you find that you don’t have strength equal to the task ahead. This is where you still need a job, but feel you can’t stand another rejection! You still need to be made well, but you can’t stand hoping for a better report this time. You still want a good relationship, but you don’t have the strength to be vulnerable enough to trust again. You want a first class degree but you can’t stand the possibility of failing your exams.

At this point, you can either step sideways or backwards onto another load that you feel your strength can handle, or you step up to the task ahead of you in spite of the disparity between your strength and the strength of what you face. I recommend the later, because the former is a GUARANTEED PATH TO MEDIOCRITY! I recommend you put on your fighting face…not the cute one…the ugly one that comes by default when you mean business…Yeah that one…put it on and step up to the plate!

I believe in God. If you are willing to consider that He is God, He has made some pretty awesome promises to be your helper. He even backed this promise up with a covenant! Check out the following passages from the bible:

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. (Isaiah 40:28, 29 NKJV)

Not only is He the God who gives you strength when you are weakened by what you face, He has also promised to always be with you ; Hebrews 13:5 – Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Today, you can step up to the plate, put on your fighting face and say BOLDLY “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6 NKJV)

STEP UP! WITH GOD, THERE IS NOTHING MEDIOCRE ABOUT YOU. WALK TOWARDS THAT THING KNOWING THAT THE LORD IS YOUR HELLPER!

Have you become a storm expert?
UncategorizedLeave a comment

When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here! ” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really yo

u, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. (Matthew 14:26-30 NLT)

One thing that is constant in life is storms. Rich, poor, tall, short, skinny, bigbonned, black, white, Pink, green, whoever you are, wherever you come from, storms are inevitable!

Here is another inevitable truth, at some point, irrespective of your religious persuasion or your background, Jesus will be presented to you as the saviour walking on water, right above the storms! A some point you will hear that Jesus is a healer, that He is able to give you real peace about what happens in the after life, that He is also able to give you wisdom for what you are facing today. I pray that when Jesus is presented to you, like Peter, you’ll be bold enough to take Jesus at His Word…I believe you will find that He is who He said He is if you dared to believe Him.

For those who have already believed like Peter and have experienced “walking on water”…i.e. you’re experiencing the peace of knowing that your eternity is secure, you have/are experiencing His provision, Healing etc…storms still rage in our lives. The beauty of being a believer is that we have a saviour for life! A saviour we can simply call out to, just like Peter did!

Unfortunately most of us have become STORM EXPERTS! We reckon, it can’t be as simple as calling out to Jesus…this is a storm we’re talking about! So we opt for reading books about managing the storm of depression, poverty, addiction. We compare notes on storm managements. We attend conferences on overcoming demonic storms, sin storms. We write blogs about people who, by our “intelligent” estimation are not good storm managers and write off those who are sinking or even those who we also “intelligently” estimate to have sunk!

Now I believe in teaching about practical things to do with relationships, money, business etc, because some of the problems believers face have nothing to do with the devil or demonic attacks. It could just be a case of ignorance or a lack of common sense in that particular area. The health problems we could be facing might not have anything to do with the prince of Persia trying to stop your purpose & destiny!! It might just be that 3 spoons of sugar in each of the 12 cups of tea/coffee you have a day is not exactly God’s best for you!…I digress…

Here is where I’m going, Storm Management cannot be a substitute for the simple act of calling out to Jesus! Being saved from whatever you need saving from, need not be as complicated as we make it out to be. Never elevate anything, any teaching above the simple act of looking to Jesus to help you to start doing the impossible, and to bring you back to the top when it appears that you’re sinking!

Jesus is the your saviour from the storms! I pray that as you begin to look to Him like you once did, you will experience the storm calming, faith building power found in the person of Jesus!

Vulnerability
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Last time I shared how courage is required to be able to do the will of God. Most of what God instructs us to do, will appear to be bigger and greater than our current ability or strength. 1 Corinthians 1:28 – 29 tells us that God chooses to operate this way so that when we come before Him, no single one of us will boast before Him. We must never be confused about the truth that it is God who will work in & through us to accomplish what He has asked us to do.

We also concluded that approaching the will of God courageously does not just mean charging your future with the boldness of a lion, it also means being willing to be as vulnerable as a lamb. I’ve been thinking about what this means to us in our everyday lives. How are we courageous through being vulnerable on a day to day basis? Here some of my thoughts…

It takes courage to give the advantage in our relationships. What happens if I give them the advantage and they take advantage of me? To answer that, we also need to ask, what happens if we don’t give the advantage in relationships? The truth is that there will be no genuine relationship without vulnerability. Our best relationships are with those who have overlooked an opportunity to take advantage of you. Our best relationships are those with those who are interested in giving you the advantage. If we will have great relationships we will have to be courageous enough to give someone an opportunity to take advantage of you.

It takes courage to love your wife as Christ loves the church, or to submit to your husband as you will submit to Jesus. That requires a great deal of vulnerability…But that is exactly what is required to have the bride that you desire. It is through Jesus’ courage to lay down His life for us that He is now able to present us as the radiant church, without stain or wrinkle…the bride that He desires.

It takes courage to step out in business or in ministry, because you have no guarantees of success. But if it is an endeavour or desire that is in line with the Word, that’s exactly where you need to be. 2 Corinthians 12:9 tells us that His strength is made perfect in weakness. you can only experience the strength of God when you are courageous enough to depend solely on Him! That is vulnerable place…that is powerful place to be!

Everyday life presents us with opportunities to be bold as a lion & as vulnerable as a lamb. Make a decision to seize the opportunity to be boldly or vulnerably courageous. As you courageously charge the will of God for your life, please settle this in your heart…God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9). And if God be for you, who/what can be against you?
