What are you learning from your Pain?
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Pain instructs.

I believe God allowed pain to instruct us. It wasn’t his first choice. He is not sadistic to choose pain as an instructor. His first choice was obedience. God’s best plan has always been that we learn by listening to Him and obeying His instructions.

The fallen state of man however, makes it highly possible that we wouldn’t know how to discern the voice of God.

And even when we do, our sin condition often persuades us that there is life outside of LIFE HIMSELF, wisdom outside of the instructions of WISDOM HIMSELF. So we reject God’s instructions.

But God has set things up in such a way that even the negative consequence of being outside of God’s will, is pregnant with opportunities to return to Him. This is the mercy of God in action.

Pain and Hurt is a testament of the mercy of God. Pain is God saying, you didn’t hear me last time, will you hear me now that it hurts?

The trouble is that we have an enemy, His job is to pervert something that God allows for our good, he turns it around for evil.

So when we get hurt in relationships, the hurt was teaching you who you are, what you like, what is important to you.

But the enemy perverts that, and teaches us to hate others for hurting us. Teaches us to live a distrustful life because we’ve been hurt. Teaches us not to try again because failing hurt the last time.

I think this is why it is important to learn to yield our pain to God. When we do, He uses our pain to teach us His lessons.

When we don’t yield our pain to God, we open ourselves up to pick up the perverted lessons that the enemy wants us to learn in pain and hurt.

We don’t need to ask you if you are learning from your pain, because we all are. We do need to ask, what are you learning from your pain?

The right lessons will make you better, not bitter, wiser not foolish. The right lessons will provoke growth not stunt your growth. The right lessons will make you bolder, not more timid.

Don’t waste your pain. Tell God about what hurts. Find good friends who will partner with God to bring out the best lessons from your pain.

This is the gospel, that in darkest and most painful parts of the journey of life, resurrection is possible because God turns our pain and our hurt in to resurrection power!

The Throne or The Towel?
LeadershipLeave a comment

A common deception for leaders and aspiring leaders is the deception that the goal of leadership is the throne. Particularly when we are inspired by others who are wielding great influence already. This is where you just see the position occupied by your boss at work, a leader in church or another community or thought leader.

When this happens we begin to jostle for a position. We start jostling for the throne. If you are a person of faith, your prayer requests becomes mainly positional requests and supplications that sounds something like this “God, please make me a …”.

Is it wrong to desire a position? Absolutely not! The bible says that it is a good thing to desire to be a bishop. However the goal of the position or title is not the throne!

In Matthew 20: 24 – 28 Jesus was addressing his disciples who had a ring side seat that gave them the privilege of seeing the influence that Jesus wielded in His time. James and John got their mum to ask Jesus for positions on His right and His left hand side. The disciples also became indignant because they thought that Jesus granted them their request.

But Jesus turned it around, He said look. if you are really looking to go to the top, you’re going to have to change what you are looking at! Stop looking at the glory and the majesty of the throne! Start looking for a place to serve like a servant!

Pride causes us to aim for the throne, whilst humility causes us to crave service. As part of your service, you might need a throne. Infact the truth is that the throne was designed to be used for a greater level of service. However humility understands that even when you get the throne, you are a servant on a throne.

Even with Jesus, it wasn’t the allure of a throne that drew Him to come to the earth, it was the opportunity to serve! He did not come to be served but to serve. Authentic  leadership is servant leadership.

Philippians 2:6-7 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God, did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself of all privileges and rightful dignity, so as to assume the guise of a servant slave, in that He became like men and was born a human being.

The reason Jesus is Lord, the all powerful God, with the highest influence in every realm of existence is because he set his sights on the privilege of serving. His eyes where not on the throne. His eyes where on the opportunity to serve humanity.

The life and achievement of Jesus leaves us with one profound truth that every leader must embrace – You will NEVER really lead anyone or in any sphere that you have not really served!

The Realm of the Genius
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Everyone who has ever done anything noteworthy with their life lives or lived with a strong conviction about what is not yet seen in the physical. They feel so strongly about the thing they do not yet see that their lives are dedicated to bringing the unseen in to the realm of the seen!

This is where every genius lives!

HOW DO WE SEE THE UNSEEN?

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. (Hebrews 11:1 AMP)

You can see what is not revealed to the senses by faith (confidence in Jesus, in who He says He is, what He has done for you & what he says about your circumstances).

If your natural senses can not see the healing, finances, joy, peace, wisdom that you need, by faith you can see these things!

WHY BOTHER TRYING TO SEE THE INVINCIBLE?

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:3 NKJV)

Here is why it is important to engage what is unseen…because everything that is seen came out of things that are unseen!

The mistake we make is that we are looking for money we can see…to change the debt we can see…but that’s not how it works…we change things that are seen, with things that are unseen!

You are trying to change your insecurities which can be seen, by wearing more make up or by plastic surgery or by changing you clothes…we are trying to change what we can see with things that can be seen…

The bible says that things that are seen were not made of things that can be seen…things that can be seen were made of things that cannot be seen!

And so until we start looking at things that cannot be seen, then we are not yet ready to become those who can change what we can see!

Until WE start to engage faith, which is the ability to see what cannot be seen, we will forever be excluded from the realm that births change in this world!

We were all designed to create & to consume. Without faith you will spend the most of your life paying a premium for what others create for you.

Without faith we are at the mercy of those who create what you consume.

There’s nothing wrong with consuming what others create, that’s how God designed us. But there is everything wrong with never creating, but always consuming because the consumer always pays a premium to the creator!

You are paying £30 for a meal that cost £3…because one person had enough faith to make the meal…out of nothing!

You are paying £500 for your phone that probably cost £50 to make because somebody else created it and the first time you saw it was after it was created!

THE BEST THING THAT GOD DID FOR US WAS TO GIVE US THE PRIVILEGE OF CHOOSING WHAT WE SEE WITH MY MIND, BECAUSE THIS MEANS WE ARE NEVER STUCK IN THE WORLD THAT ANOTHER PERSON CREATES FOR US!

By looking at Jesus and developing confidence in Him, you can create a new reality.

We are not victims of the circumstances we face because we have the Words of the maker of the universe. With these words, we can tap into the realm of the genius.

What does the bible say about what you’re facing? Think on those words RELENTLESSLY!

The realm of the unseen is where the genius lives!

Change your light, Change your life

Also He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? (Mark 4:21 NKJV)

There is an awesome story bible story in Acts 20 about Paul which I love so much. In this passage, God tells Paul that as he (Paul) would die in Jerusalem, but Paul’s response was…However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. (Acts 20:24)

It is natural to be fearful and to even change your plans if someone told you that in your journey to your place of work or study you would be killed…well unless you have a different understanding…a different light on your lamp-stand that means that you don’t see impending death (as prophesied by God HIMSELF…not a spooky Christian) as an obstacle, or as something that should cause you to change your plans.

An understanding of what God said in His Word brings or sheds light on how you see your life (Psalm 119:130). Let this light be a blue light.

An understanding of what every other person/circumstance says also brings or sheds a different kind of light on what you face. Let this light be a red light.

Now once you turn the light on, once you place the lamp on your lamp stand everything in your environment starts to reflect the light you turned on! So everything in your life right now is either looking blue or looking red! Everything is you see now is seen through the light shinning in the eys of your understanding.

Since my beautiful daughter was born, the baby light has been turned on in the eyes of my understanding so now my whole world is reflecting that light! I am no longer just thinking about myself but I am thinking about everything because in view of my understanding that I now have a daughter. In fact I even feel like there are more babies in the world now!

Everything you are seeing with your natural eyes is reflecting the light shining in the eye of your understanding. In other words, what you understand about what you are facing right now informs how you feel about what you are facing. Your understanding also informs the conclusions you are drawing from what you face.

I believe the Bible. I believe in Jesus. Here’s what the bible says about Jesus: In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4, 5 NIV)

Today, let’s make some decisions to do some things:

1- Get understanding about Jesus and what He says about you and your circumstance
2- Take down the “red light” (what you naturally understand about what you’re facing) from the lamp-stand of your heart.
3- Put up the “blue light” that is Jesus on the lamp-stand of your heart.

Let an understanding of Jesus be the light through which you see your relationships, future, your identity, your circumstances etc! Make a decision that it’s the blue light that informs everything you see in your life!!

When you see your life differently, you will see different things in your life! Change your light, Change your life
