Bitterness, rage, resentment anger, animosity can easily creep into our lives mostly when we have been offended by someone. Sometimes the offender is aware that they have offended us. At other times they are completely oblivious to the offence. Unfortunately, irrespective of the offenders knowledge and acceptance of their offence, the effects of being offended are still toxic!
Proverbs 15:13 A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit…
Let it go friends! As you let it go, you set yourself free. Most of the time we want them to know that they have offended us! We want them to feel sorry for what they have done before we forgive them! Unfortunately this mindset keeps you enslaved to their response. Most people are slaves to the poor characters of others. You’re better than that! You were not born to be enslaved to the flaws in someone else’s character.
Check how God forgave us…He completely forgave us before any message was preached to us about our sins against him. He did not wait for us to know about our sins or acknowledge them before he died for us. Learn to forgive before or even without the offender knowing they have offended you. You don’t need to give that driver a nasty stare to let him know his/her driving offended you! Yes sometimes we need to make people aware of their offence just so that we put boundaries in place for the future. But forgiving without feeling the need to announce the offence to the offender is a more powerful way to live.
