FaceTime with Him
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Every thing good which we’ll ever need as an human being, physical, emotional, social, financial, and mentally is found in God.

The reason we experience lack is a disconnection from God, the source of provision. We experience death because of a disconnection from God who is life.

This disconnection happened in Adam. The moment he sinned in the garden of Eden, he was disconnected from the source of everything and hand to figure life out himself.

In Jesus, we are reconnected with God. But more than that, God has put, in His glory in the face of Jesus.

2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Glory is manifested goodness that can be attributed to God only. We had access to this glory because of our permanent connection with God, which Adam enjoyed. We lost it when Adam sinned.

Our reconnection with God through Jesus gives us a fresh opportunity to experience the glory of God. This time this glory is in the face of Jesus.

Every form of goodness we need in our life is available in the face of Jesus. It’s available when we go looking in His face. As we look in His face through prayer, through consistently looking it His Word for our life solutions we will be transformed from glory to glory.

It’s time for some Facetime. Seek His face. Affirm His presence with you. Stay in His face. The glory, goodness you need is in His face.

When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Ps 27:8

A miracle in the mundane
UncategorizedLeave a comment

We don’t always get spectacular, miraculous moments. But we ALWAYS get the mundane! Sleep, eat, rave repeat…in a loop.

Most of us are are not often thankful for the mundane routines of life because it’s mundane!

Truth is you don’t always need a miracle and a spectacle to change your future because most times everything you need to change your future is in the mundane routines of life. The miracle is in the mundane.

If you can appreciate the value of the mundane you can make your future appreciate in value.

If you can stop to find what works now and be grateful for that, If you can count your blessings and name them one by one as the songwriter says, you will find the power to rule over your future.

The present is a gift. The mundane routines are a gift. It contains the miraculous! Thank God for the mundane. There is a miracle in the mundane.

Clean hands. Pure hearts.
UncategorizedLeave a comment

We no longer live in a dispensation where what we do determines how acceptable we are to God. We live in a dispensation where we are perfectly acceptable to God because of what Jesus did!

And our faith in Jesus is the bucket with which we can scoop up and use up heaps of the benefits that comes with being perfectly acceptable to God!

However, there is still something about a man or woman who is dedicated to having clean hands and a pure heart. There are heights God and in life that are reserved for those dedicated to keeping their hands clean and hearts pure.

Keeping your hands clean involves making a decision to make sure all you do empowers others and doesn’t hinder them.

Keeping your hands clean involves doing things in such a way that if anyone was to audit your actions and intentions retrospectively, they will find you guiltless.

Keeping your heart pure involves keeping your motives pure. It involves finding the best motive for anything you do, and yielding your heart to that motive.

Keeping your heart pure involves choosing to believe the very best about others even when there is reason to believe the very worst.

Keeping your heart pure is choosing God’s Word in your heart, above the jealousy, fear, resentment, envy, frustrations about yourself and others, which creep into our heart daily.

I believe we live in a time that requires us to move huge mountains and weather unprecedented storms. These are times that demands authentic faith in God. Authentic faith is characterised by clean hands and pure hearts. Authentic faith is in the state of your heart and not the size of your bible.

We are called to scale great heights in our industries, communities & families. Whilst we don’t seek to keep our hands clean and our hearts pure to be acceptable to God. We do need to desire that, for the sake of the advancement of God’s kingdom.

The grace of God does not exempt us from needing clean hands and pure hearts to scale great heights. The grace of God empowers us to live a successful life with clean hands and pure hearts.

Keep your hands clean. Keep your heart pure. Let God help you with it. Ask Him to. Make that your prayer in spite of your current situation.

Getting past that overwhelming feeling
UncategorizedLeave a comment

If you live long enough you will face overwhelming situations in life. To be overwhelmed is to be so strongly impacted by something that you don’t know what to do about it.

It’s that place where the debt appears so huge compared to your income. It’s that place where the lies being spread about you seem to be overshadowing the truth. It’s that place where you feel the strength you have is too small to handle the life you have.

The good news is that God has made provision to ensure that we are NEVER TRAPPED BY THE THINGS THAT OVERWHELM US. He has made provision to lead us to a higher place. A rock that is higher!

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalms 61:2 NKJV

For every overwhelming situation you face, please know this, God has already prepared a higher rock…a place of safety!

In the midst of the overwhelming situations you face the temptation is to ignore the simple instructions God gives. That’s a mistake! Don’t fall for it!

Every instruction to forgive, or to try again, or to believe that your best is still to come, every instruction God sends you in the season you are overwhelmed is an attempt by God to lead you to that rock that is Higher than you.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Psalms 32:8 NKJV

God does not promise to cause you to skip any season of your life, however overwhelming it is. But He promises to instruct, teach and guide you through every season! That’s why even if you make your bed in hell as the psalmist says in Psalm 139:8, He there! He is there to guide you through hell and into His will for you.

I pray that you find the courage and the boldness to listen to God’s instruction to you especially in the seasons where you are overwhelmed.

I pray that this will be the day that you rise above those things that have seemed to drown and overwhelm you.

I pray that this will be the season where you yield to the God who is waiting to lead you to a rock, higher that you.

Thank you for reading this.I am praying for you.

Choosing your hiding place
UncategorizedLeave a comment

I often play hide and seek with my nearly 4 year old daughter. When she was a little bit younger, before we start the game, she’d tell me where to hide and sometimes she tell me where she’ll hide! 😂😂😂 (She’s bossy like that)

Recently I came across this verse in the bible that got me thinking that whilst announcing where you were going to hide might not be the best idea on the playground, in real life we often need to choose and announce our hiding place before the storm.

This a Psalm of David. David knew about hiding. He had to hide in caves from Saul who was trying to kill him. One time he had to disguise himself as someone who was mentally unwell in order to hide amongst the philistines, long time enemies of Israel at the time.

But in all of these clever places he found to hide, he discovered that his real hiding place was in God! And he announced it upfront in the above verse.

If you choose you hiding place upfront, we settle it before you’re under pressure. If you make a good decision to ALWAYS hide in God, every challenge you face has to contend with Him.

If you choose your hiding place upfront, the emotions that get stirred up in us when we’re under pressure stands less chance of driving us to hide in the wrong place.

Have you caught yourself hiding away in an alcoholic beverage? In food? Drugs? Other people? Sex? The gym? Music?

There’s a place for all (or should I say some) of the above in life. But none of them was designed to be our hiding place. None of the above is equipped to hide you like God can.

In fact the place or person you consistently run to for shelter when you are under pressure eventually begins to exercise Godlike power over you.

If you’ve been hiding in anywhere but in God, return to the stronghold in God today. Practically we do that by choosing to believe that God WILL preserve you in trouble and eventually deliver you from trouble!

We hide in God when choose to believe that He is willing and capable of keeping you safe in EVERY WAY!!

Pray like David prayed: YOU ARE MY HIDING PLACE LORD!

When the promise doesn’t make sense
UncategorizedLeave a comment

If you’re like me, trying to live a life of faith in God through Jesus, there will be seasons of great contradictions. Living a life of faith is simply living a life that is directed and influenced by the Words of a living God, captured in scripture. Living a life of faith is choosing to live with expectations set by believing in the promises of God.

The contradictions set in when you bump into situations that are directly at odds with the promises of God.

When you expected help that never seems to be there. When you expected that they would fall on their knees asking what must I do to be saved after you shared the gospel with them as the Spirit of God led you to do. But all you got was a weird look. When you expected provision that is still pending.

I have learnt that these are the times when the quality of your faith is tested. I have learnt to fall back on the covenant. Psalm 89:34 says that God will not alter His Word or break His covenant.

The Words of a God, His promises and instructions are backed up by the covenant. Even though God’s Word is good, on the basis of His integrity as a person, the covenant makes the promise legally binding.

It’s one thing for a nice, trustworthy friend to give you a promise. It’s another thing for them to go through the effort to go to court, write up papers and sign an affidavit to make that promise legally binding.

That’s what God has done. He gave His promise. Even though it is good enough, He legalises His promise by sending His son to die on the cross. Hebrews 6:18 tells us that this is God’s attempt to let you know how serious He is about His promise.

I have learnt that the promise is given to set your expectation. And the covenant is given to help us keep our expectation set when the promise doesn’t seem to make sense. I have learnt to fall back on the covenant, particularly in seasons of great contradictions.

Practically this means I am not afraid to be without an explanation for the contradictions, because I believe that the covenant ties God to me permanently, and if I keep walking conscious of His presence with me, in time, the pieces of the puzzle will fit.

Hebrews 6:11-12 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Don’t quit or abandon the promise of God simply because it doesn’t add up right now and you’re looking like a mug right now. God has legally bound Himself to fulfill no His promise. Keep the faith. Be patient. You will inherit the promise.

Dating is Not Marriage
UncategorizedLeave a comment

So I’ve had a few conversations about the above statement I made in different places including my local church. I’ve had a few queries about what I mean, so I thought to just write about it. I haven’t even tried to make this a theological discourse per say even though we could go there.

But in my own relationship(s) and in my role as a Pastor, I have had the privilege of working with people of all ages and in all stages in relationship. My experience has shown me that the boundaries in dating and marriage are different. We always run into problems if we don’t recocognise or honour these boundaries in dating relationships or in marriage.

One of the heartbreaking things I have seen has been seeing people who have been cheated on, abused verbally or physically, absolutely wrecked because they set up the dating relationship with the same level of commitment as a married relationship. Maybe through sex or huge financial commitments. These actions, whilst they are demonstrations of loyalty on social ne level are huge things that binds you deeply to someone who has not made a commitment to be with you forever. I have seen people who make these commitments, on the basis of marriage, which eventually never materialised after even many years.

This is why I have seen people have their hearts wrecked more than is necessary. A break up of a dating relationship is sad and heartbreaking. It’s part of life. But when boundaries are crossed it has a disproportionate effect on those involved.

When I dated my wife I learnt quickly I needed to treat her right, honour her, respect her and love her, because there were others interested in her. I also know God has a great future for her. I knew she was good for me. I thought she was a good catch! I still think so. I don’t think she deserved anything less. Because when you find someone good for you, you treat them right.

I also expected her to treat me the same way for the same reasons. Thankfully this became the foundation of my relationship with my wife. Mutual honour and respect.

If someone can’t honour you by not cheating on or treating you right when they don’t have a ‘marriage obligation’ to do so, then they simply are not good enough for you. This shouldn’t be up for debate.

Be loyal & committed to your friends. Be with someone you choose to be with. Understand that God doesn’t want you to be with someone who doesn’t value you enough to treat you as royalty.  Be with someon you want to be with not someone they have to be with.
Be with people who want to be with you. Someone who doesn’t just say they want to be with you but act like it too by treating you right.

If the person you are dating doesn’t consistently honour you and treat you right in a dating relationship, do not be afraid to exercise one of the privileges I believe you have in a dating relationship, walking away. You deserve better! Much better! Your future deserves a WHOLE you. Not a broken YOU. Broken by someone who didn’t see your worth and value.

Let’s discover ourselves
UncategorizedLeave a comment

This is to everyone who has ever been written off, made to feel inferior or stupid for going down a path “they” thought you didn’t qualify to go. To everyone who has ever doubted yourself, or been terrified of failing and proving your critics right. Today I am praying with you. I am standing with you! I am praying that you have the strength to live out your convictions with a smile on your face and joy in your heart. That you find the courage to pursue your God given dreams. I am praying that God will surround you with a handful of “ride or die” folks. I am praying that God will send you people who are just as naive as you are, to believe that even you can make a mark on your generation that can never be erased. Let us go into the enemy camp and discover ourselves. Our God is not limited to using “perfect” people. He can use US too! I’ll see you at the top! My name is Chido Gideon and I approve this message. 👆🏾👆🏾

Made for Good Works

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

You have been fashioned, formed, set apart and appointed! When God was looking to fulfil an aspect of His will…He thought who do I need to send…I know what I’ll do, I’ll form (Insert your name), set him/her apart & appoint him/her  to (insert your dreams/visions here)

It is not a coincidence that you have that dream to sponsor the kingdom. It is not a coincidence that you have that desire to work with children, you were formed, set apart and appointed for the task!

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We were created in Christ for Good works! When a car manufacturer is designing a car, they design with a function in mind. The seats are made to carry people, the tyres are made to move the car forward…the leather on the seats, the rims on tyres are just extras. They were not the purpose.

When God created you and I in Christ, one of the main functions He designed us for is to do good works! There’s lots of extras that come with that, the prosperity, the wisdom etc, are all extras. But one of the main reasons God made us in Christ is to do good works.

Live without apologies. Expect good. Expect to do good. Expect your life to produce amazing results. It is your birthright in Christ. In fact as one made in Christ, The Anointed one, It will be wrong to expect anything short of exceptional results from your life.

Please don’t cut down on your dreams. Don’t allow the circumstances of life to give you an expectation that is below the standard of what the power of God can produce. We owe it our generation to do the Good works we were born-again to do.

Praying for you. Always.

Power to walk on water
UncategorizedLeave a comment

Matthew 14: 23 And after He had dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the hills by Himself to pray. When it was evening, He was still there alone. 24 But the boat was by this time out on the sea, many furlongs [a furlong is one-eighth of a mile] distant from the land, beaten and tossed by the waves, for the wind was against them. 25 And in the fourth watch [between 3:00—6:00 a.m.] of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

Many times we face situations in life where it our boat seems to have drifted beyond our reach leaving us stranded. A friend that you thought will always be there is suddenly no longer there. A job that provided financial security for you suddenly is no more, leaving you wondering about your future. A spouse you shared your life with dies or walks out.

Like Jesus, there will be times in life when it appears to be that you are stranded. It is particularly in seasons like this that a clear revelation of your purpose is often priceless! Jesus’ purpose was to die on the cross and not to be stranded on some hills. So He just walked on water!

In Mark 4:38, there was storm in the seas and the disciples, most of whom were experienced seamen were worried and scared for their lives. But Jesus was asleep in the boat. I believe He had no reason to be worried because He was born to die on the cross and not drown in the sea.

When you know why you were born, when you have a revelation of the promises of God for your life, you will find the courage to walk on the things should drown you. When you get a revelation of God’s will for your life, you will have the audacity to to sleep in the midst of every storm in you life.

You are not a mistake. Your existence here is not by chance. You are a seed of a dream God had on the earth. Above all else today, I pray that you find the very reason you were born. Every courage, faith, confidence you need to overcome everything you face in life can be found in your purpose. There is provision the your vision.
