Worst case scenario – Beat that bully
LeadershipLeave a comment

Ester 4:16

Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me; and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. I also and my maids will fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish. (Esther 4:16 AMP)

We will never really see the power of God in its full effect if we do not take action on the Word of God which is the seed for experiencing the power of God. The providence of God is acted out when you act!

One key reason we often don’t act on the word is the fear of failing. I know I struggle with that one! I hate failing so much that on many occasions I didn’t try. What if it goes wrong? What if it doesn’t work? What if I make a fool of myself? What if I mess it all up?

I have come to realise that if we will see the manifestation of what God says we can become, we will need to come to the place where you say if I PERISH, I PERISH! We would need to come to the place where the we look the worst case scenario in the eye, and choose to defy it!

The worst case scenario is like a bully. It stares you down on the play ground of life. It taunts you and challenges your courageous advances. But once you choose to look the worst case scenario in the eye and authentically communicate to it that you are no longer afraid of what happens if “it” happen – IF I PERISH, I PERISH – you will be free from that bully. And equipped to truly act on that Word!

Hey, what do you want? The life you have now or the life you are dreaming of? Action is the vehicle that transports you from where you are to where you want to be. Act now! Every time you procrastinate on taking an action because of some area of uncertainty, what you are choose your current location over what I see in my dreams!

The best thing about action for the believer is that it is not by power or by might but by the Spirit of God! God’s Spirit will support you incredibly every time you act on Gods Word!

The Throne or The Towel?
LeadershipLeave a comment

A common deception for leaders and aspiring leaders is the deception that the goal of leadership is the throne. Particularly when we are inspired by others who are wielding great influence already. This is where you just see the position occupied by your boss at work, a leader in church or another community or thought leader.

When this happens we begin to jostle for a position. We start jostling for the throne. If you are a person of faith, your prayer requests becomes mainly positional requests and supplications that sounds something like this “God, please make me a …”.

Is it wrong to desire a position? Absolutely not! The bible says that it is a good thing to desire to be a bishop. However the goal of the position or title is not the throne!

In Matthew 20: 24 – 28 Jesus was addressing his disciples who had a ring side seat that gave them the privilege of seeing the influence that Jesus wielded in His time. James and John got their mum to ask Jesus for positions on His right and His left hand side. The disciples also became indignant because they thought that Jesus granted them their request.

But Jesus turned it around, He said look. if you are really looking to go to the top, you’re going to have to change what you are looking at! Stop looking at the glory and the majesty of the throne! Start looking for a place to serve like a servant!

Pride causes us to aim for the throne, whilst humility causes us to crave service. As part of your service, you might need a throne. Infact the truth is that the throne was designed to be used for a greater level of service. However humility understands that even when you get the throne, you are a servant on a throne.

Even with Jesus, it wasn’t the allure of a throne that drew Him to come to the earth, it was the opportunity to serve! He did not come to be served but to serve. Authentic  leadership is servant leadership.

Philippians 2:6-7 Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God, did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself of all privileges and rightful dignity, so as to assume the guise of a servant slave, in that He became like men and was born a human being.

The reason Jesus is Lord, the all powerful God, with the highest influence in every realm of existence is because he set his sights on the privilege of serving. His eyes where not on the throne. His eyes where on the opportunity to serve humanity.

The life and achievement of Jesus leaves us with one profound truth that every leader must embrace – You will NEVER really lead anyone or in any sphere that you have not really served!

Leadership In the Kingdom of God
LeadershipLeave a comment

God has called every one of his children to lead and to make a difference, but that difference is only made when we choose to apply ourselves to His purpose. Leadership is responsibility. We become children of God by the grace of God. However, we walk as sons by virtue of the responsibility we assume within the confines of His grace.

Whilst the whole world is yours by the grace of God, it is only those who develop the ability to be responsible for that which has been released to us by the grace of God that actually get to walk in their inheritance…

Let me explain this like this…I have an excellent father…and when I was growing up, he had a car. Now from the moment I was born, by virtue of the favour that my father had on me because I was His son, I had the privilege of being taken to school in that car…I had the privilege of being picked up from school in that car. But I didn’t have the privilege of driving that car on behalf of my father until a certain age!

Why? Because for whatever reason…I had not yet stepped up to the plate of responsibility.

So even though the car was available to me, I needed to be responsible enough to go to driving school…I needed to be responsible enough to pay attention enough to pass my driving test…it is now on the basis of my demonstration of this responsibility that my father now released me into using the car to drop of my younger ones at school and picking them from school…on His behalf!

This is what leaders are in the kingdom of God. Leaders are those who have stepped up to take responsibility to develop the different attributes that allow God to release them into the inheritance that belongs to them by the grace of God!

The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 that we are stewards of mysteries of God, and it is required that those who are steward to be found faithful…In other words we are called by the grace of God, but within the confines of His grace there is a requirement for me to be faithful as a steward of the promise by grace!

Leadership is about being responsible stewards of the things that God has given us by His grace. Everything God has promised you…everything you are believing for is by the grace of God. There is a requirement for us to develop attributes that make us responsible sons who administrate all that God has given us by His Grace.

How to get promoted
LeadershipLeave a comment

Getting promoted is not something that is set aside for others. It is literally within your grasp. The nature of the environment doesn’t even need to hinder your progress because your success is an inside job!

The story is told about a man called Daniel who was a prisoner of war and a slave. He was in a place where by virtue of the type of environment he was in, he was supposed to be one of those who should not be noticed.

He was not supposed to be someone who had anything to say about anything in this environment, because the facts & figures from the standards, stereotypes and statistics were stacked against him.

But Daniel was a man who had the Spirit of Excellence, and it was this spirit of excellence that caused the king to begin to plan things things for Him…

There is something about excellence that causes kings (people in authority) to find you out…you begin to register on the radar of those who can help you when you become excellent at what you do…

Please never forget that most of the time, opportunity watches you before opportunity shows up at your door. Kings watch you before kings speak to you.

In Daniel 6, the king first noticed Daniel, and based on His observation of the kind of person that Daniel was, He began to make plans for Daniel’s promotion.

Right now there is somebody making plans for your promotion because there is always room for you to be promoted, but the question still remains, what is it about me that should cause them to call off their search when the find me?

Here is a short list of several things you could do at work today to put you on the radar of kings.

How to get promoted

1. Learn to leave your personal baggage at Home! Step away from being that person who is always going through something. Don’t be that person that always has a need that is not being met.

Those who get promoted are those who don’t always come to the table with their need…they are those who come with a seed. Kings love people who bring something to the table.

2. Check your attitude. Are you are problem spotter or a problem solver? What is your attitude at Work.

Don’t complain about problems at work! You’re not doing your boss a favour, they pay you to be stressed by the companies issues.

If you will get promoted you’ll need to be that one with a good attitude. And the good thing is that irrespective of what you’re facing, you can always choose your attitude.

Attitudes can be changed by changing what you believe!

3. Understand why you are paid to do what you do. You will never be effective if you don’t know why you are there.

Why did they put you on the pay roll? How does that contribute to your company? You will get disillusioned when you don’t understand why you do what you do. People who know why will always be promoted over people who just know how.

Kings are always looking for people who understand why they are where they are and what their role is.

4. Learn to be flexible to change. Kings are looking for people who are willing to be flexible…willing to change. Don’t be one of those that just resist change for the sake of it.

Most people just resist change because change always requires something of you.

If you don’t change, you’ll stay where you are…that’s why eventually people who resist change become:-
a) Passive – and real leaders don’t need passive people…real leaders need to know exactly where you stand…
b) Aggressive…could it be that opportunity is by-passing you because you are trying to control the situation by being aggressive!

So learn to embrace change…the most sure thing here on earth is change!

Hope you found that helpful. Congratulations on your promotion!
